📚✨ Our Book Blast prizes and books have officially arrived—and the excitement is contagious! We are so thankful for our amazing parents and families who contributed so generously. Because of your support, every single student was able to take home at least one book to add to their personal home library. What a gift that is! ❤️ There’s nothing better than seeing the joy on a child’s face when they open a brand-new book—and knowing that the love of reading is growing right along with them. “Reading is the foundation for all learning. When children learn to read, they open the door to a lifetime of knowledge, imagination, and opportunity.” 📖

We are excited to announce that Spring Pictures will be April 29th for the entire school and T/Th Pre-K will be the morning of the 30th. We use these photos and the class photo taken in the Spring in our Yearbook. Everyone will get their photo taken that day. 🐾

The Lady Comets will be at OHES Friday with Dippin' Dots for students to purchase. The price is $5.00. Enjoy a sweet treat to kickstart your weekend.

Please join us for our Carter County FRYSC Celebrate the Child event tonight at 5:30 p.m. at Olive Hill Elementary School. The assembly will be in the gym with Miss September Cardiff and Friends, and our art contest winners will be recognized with a certificate. After the assembly, everyone can visit our numerous vendors that are set up in the cafeteria, go thru the cafeteria line to get a hotdog, chips, cookies, water and visit the petting zoo outside the gym. Free event and open to everyone.

April 4th was National School Librarian Appreciation Day. We want to show our appreciation for our School Librarian Mrs. Stevens. Her love of literacy is contagious for the students at OHES. She is always up for a creative event, planning with PTO to make school fun, and is looking for ways to impact our students, well beyond the Library. She loves books, learning, and just loves big! We appreciate you Mrs. Stevens!

You all absolutely crushed it! ✨ Our school logged our HIGHEST number of minutes yet: 56,800 minutes read! ✨ We had 319 active readers, bringing us to an amazing 90% participation! ✨ A big shoutout to Ms. Mary Webb’s 3rd Grade Class for locking in and reading the most minutes in March with 11,232! ✨ And our Top Reader goes to Kindergarten superstar Noah Pennington with 1,400+ minutes read! 📜👑 Hear Ye, Hear Ye! 👑📜 By royal decree, the Kingdom of Kindergarten proudly presents our most distinguished nobles! Yesterday, our young scholars transformed into kings and queens, showcasing their wisdom, creativity, and hard work during our Kindergarten Wax Museum & Writing Showcase. Each royal figure stood tall, sharing their stories and knowledge with grace fit for the grandest of courts. Following the presentations, the celebration continued with a most delightful royal tea party—filled with laughter, treats, and memories worthy of the crown. We are ever so proud of our little royalty and the marvelous efforts they displayed. Long live our kings and queens! 👑✨

Cyber Safety Presentation with KSP Detective, John Sims on April 17, 2026 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at Prichard Elementary sponsored by Carter County FRYSC. This presentation is for adults only! Please do not bring your children as this important information will not be censored for children. It is a free event and open to everyone.

🌸 Spring Basket Donations Needed! 🌸 Our OHES students are excited to help create some amazing themed baskets to support PTO end-of-year activities like field trips, class celebrations, and special student events! Each grade level will be putting together a different themed basket (see graphics below 👇), and we are asking our families and community businesses to help us fill them with fun items. If you would like to contribute, please consider donating a new item related to one of the basket themes. Donations help make these baskets extra special and allow us to raise more funds for our students! 📅 Donation Deadline: March 20 🎉 Basket drawings: April 10 If you or your business would like to donate an item or gift card, please contact the school or send items in with a student.
