🌧️ Field Day is STILL ON for Tuesday, May 26 — rain or shine (as long as there are no storms)!
Students MUST bring:
✔️ Extra clothes
✔️ Shoes & socks
✔️ A towel
Unfortunately, students without these items will not be able to participate in water activities.
🍧 Kona Ice will also be here! Students will need cash if they’d like to purchase an end-of-year slushie. Families who would like to donate toward covering slushies for additional students may do so as well — we are always so appreciative of the generosity and kindness shown by our parents and community. ❤️ The prices are in the attached image.
A little rain never hurt a Bulldog's fun 💦 🐾

43 library books are still missing.
$435 worth of books our students and teachers no longer have access to. 📚
Our goal is always to keep our library shelves full of current, exciting, and up-to-date reads for kids to enjoy.
We can only continue doing that when books are cared for and returned responsibly.
Please check bedrooms, backpacks, vehicles, under beds, and bookshelves this week. Every book returned makes a difference. If you can't find, you can always pay❤️
Shoutout to THIRD Grade for only having ONE book left to find!

Due to cool temps on Thursday, this (final) Bulldog Buck Event will take place TOMORROW Wednesday, May 20.
Students that are participating will want to bring in a change of clothes.

Today we celebrate two very special members of our OHES family — our incredible speech pathologists, Taelyn Kilgore and Stacy Sturgill! 💙
Their gentle hearts, endless patience, warm smiles, and kindness make a difference in the lives of our students every single day. They encourage confidence, celebrate progress big and small, and love our children so well.
OHES is beyond blessed to have these two amazing ladies on our team. Thank you, Taelyn and Stacy, for the care, compassion, and dedication you pour into our school each day!

Today, we celebrate a true Olive Hill Elementary legend — Mr. Earl. ❤️
For so many years, Mr. Earl has been much more than our morning greeter, lawn keeper, and custodian. He has been a friendly face at the front door, a steady helping hand, a source of laughter, and a part of the heart of our school family. From early mornings to long afternoons, he has cared for our students, staff, and school with pride and dedication that simply cannot be replaced.
There’s no question that Olive Hill Elementary will feel different without him walking the halls, waving in the car line, or keeping our grounds looking beautiful. He is truly one of a kind, and we are so incredibly blessed to have had him for as long as we did.
As Mr. Earl starts his well-earned retirement this June, we would love for our school community to help us celebrate him! Please leave a comment below with a favorite memory, funny story, or note of thanks and encouragement for Mr. Earl. Let’s show him just how loved and appreciated he is!
Congratulations, Mr. Earl — OHES won’t be the same without you, and you will always be part of our Bulldog family.

🎉 Awards Day Announcement! 🎉
We are excited to celebrate our students at Awards Day! Families are warmly invited to attend and help us recognize the hard work, growth, and achievements of our students this school year.
📅 Important Information for Families: Teachers will communicate with families via the CCSD app (Apptegy) on Friday May 22nd if their child will be receiving an award ( Field day awards will not be communicated until May 26th or 27th).
⚠️ Please note: Attendance award winners may change if absences occur prior to Awards Day.
We look forward to celebrating with you and honoring our students’ accomplishments together! 🏅✨

As we wrap up the school year, please take a few minutes to help us track down any checked out library books. 📚
Please check:
• backpacks (including side and front pockets!)
• bedrooms and under beds
• vehicles
• nightstands, toy bins, and other “safe places”
If a book cannot be found, replacement fees can be paid to clear the account. Students with outstanding books/fees will be unable to check out library books next school year until their account is resolved - per the library contract signed at the beginning of this school year.
If you have any questions or need to check on what book is missing, feel free to contact me at allison.bond@carter.kyschools.us.
Thank you for helping us keep our library shelves full for all students! ❤️

Get ready, families… the finish line is packed with FUN! 🎉📚💦
From testing triumphs to water balloon splashes, big stages to sweet treats—there’s something exciting around every corner!
Mark those calendars and help your Bulldog be ready for all the end-of-year memories: we’re going out with a BANG (and maybe a splash)!

It takes a whole team to make our school shine—and this week, we’re celebrating ALL of the incredible people who make it happen every single day!
From the early-morning bus drivers who start our students’ day with a smile, to the cafeteria heroes serving up warm meals, to our custodians and janitorial staff who keep our halls clean, safe, and welcoming—you are the heartbeat of our building.
To our paraprofessionals who jump in wherever needed, our office staff who keep everything running smoothly, and every helping hand behind the scenes—YOU make a difference in ways big and small.
Schools aren’t just buildings… they’re communities. And it takes every single one of you to make ours the very best it can be.
We see you. We appreciate you. We are so thankful for you. 💫

🍎 Teacher Appreciation Week is May 4–8! 🍎
This week, we celebrate the incredible teachers who pour so much into our students each and every day. From early mornings to late nights, they inspire, encourage, and make a lasting difference—and a little appreciation goes a long way!
Looking for simple, meaningful (and budget-friendly!) ways to say “thank you”? Here are a few easy ideas:
✨ Write a heartfelt note or thank-you card
✨ Let your child draw a picture just for their teacher
✨ Bring a single flower (or a few from your yard!)
✨ Have your child wear their teacher’s favorite color
✨ Send in their favorite snack or drink
✨ Share a kind email or message of encouragement
We’d also love to hear from you! 💬
Leave a comment below sharing how a teacher at OHES has positively impacted your student’s life and made a difference. Your words mean more than you know!
No grand gestures needed—just genuine gratitude 💛

Talk D E R B Y to me! 🐎🌹🏁🎺
Our students ran for the roses today in their best Derby style—big hats, bold suits, and plenty of winning smiles! We may not be at Churchill Downs, but the fashion was fierce and the races were FAST.

📞 We currently are experiencing issues with our main phone lines. Our IT department is handling the issue. We didn't want any cause for alarm if you were trying to reach us. 📞

📚✨ End-of-the-Year Beanstack Awards are almost here! ✨📚
We are so proud of the time, effort, and love for reading our students have shown this year! As we finish strong, we want to encourage all of our readers (and families!) to continue logging minutes with honesty and integrity. Every page read matters, and doing the right thing—even when no one is watching—matters even more. 💙
If you would like to check your student’s current reading minutes, feel free to reach out to Mrs. Stevens (our librarian) at allison.bond@carter.kyschools.us.
Let’s finish the year strong, celebrate our readers, and keep building a lifelong love of books! 📖🌟

🍛Happy School Lunch Hero Day to our heroes! Our cafeteria staff goes above and beyond to provide great nutrition, love, and care to our students, families, and our staff.Today we celebrate you! We love you all! 🥙

🌹🏇 Derby Day at OHES! 🏇🌹
As proud Kentuckians, we’ve spent the week learning all about the rich traditions of the Kentucky Derby—and now it’s time to celebrate!
This Friday, students are invited to dress in their best Derby attire. Think big hats, bow ties, bright colors, and your Derby best! 🎩👒
We can’t wait to see our students show off their school spirit and Kentucky pride as we celebrate Derby Day together! 🌹
