Representative Patrick Flannery was “NTI Principal of the Day” at ECHS 😂 He was able to participate in our Counselor PLC and check out things at East. We are so thankful for Rep Flannery and all he does for Carter County and Carter County Schools. #CarterCountyProud

Roads are still snow and ice covered throughout the county. Tomorrow, Tuesday December 16 will be NTI Day #4. Follow your school's and teacher's directions for completing assignments and communication. Staff should report if it is safe for you to do so. Please communicate with your principal or supervisor if you are not able to report.
Carter County Schools will have NTI Day #3 tomorrow, December 15, 2025. While main roads are in pretty good shape, side roads are not. Extreme temperatures contribute to this decision. We will always do what is safest for our students and staff. When it is possible to make this decision early, we will do so to allow for planning and child care arrangements but the decision is not always as clear cut as today's. Thank you for your understanding. Be sure to follow your school's and teacher's directions for NTI work and communication. Please be safe and stay warm.
Carter County Schools will be closed Friday December 12, 2025. This will be another traditional snow day.

Carter County Schools will be closed Thursday December 11, 2025. This will be a traditional Snow Day.

Carter County Schools will be on regular schedule tomorrow, Wednesday December 10, 2025.

After checking roads this morning, there are just too many icy, slick spots to safely have school. Therefore, today Tuesday December 9, 2025 will be a NTI day in Carter County. Please follow directions by your school and teachers for NTI assignments and communication. Please stay safe and warm!

Carter County Schools will operate on a 2 hour delay Tuesday, December 9, 2025. This will allow for greater visibility during the morning commute. While our roads are mainly clear, we have concerns of wet roads freezing overnight. We will evaluate roads again in the morning to ensure this is the best decision.

I was able to talk to National Weather Service after the Superintendent conference call. Air and road temperatures are not going to warm up and road conditions are just too "iffy" right now. Therefore today will now be a Traditional Snow Day. I want to always make the best and safest decision and today was just difficult. Again, today is a Traditional Snow Day.
I am sorry for this being later than usual but after doing a call with the National Weather Service about the current and morning weather and road conditions we need to operate on a 2 hour delay.

Good afternoon! Carter County middle and high schools have an exciting opportunity to partner with local groups (Pathfinder Initiative, Fiscal Court, and the Health Department) to work toward providing our students with the means to find positive ways to get involved in the community as a means to prevent substance use. One step in this process is for students in grades 7-12 to complete a survey that asks questions regarding their adolescent experience. The full explanation of the survey can be found by clicking on the links below for your child's school. Please consider allowing your student to participate in this survey!
The permission slip has to be completed for each child to participate, so please complete for all children in your home. This is for students in grades 7-12 and there is a form that is specific for each middle and high school linked below. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to work with our community to support our young people!

Carter County Schools will operate on a one-hour delay tomorrow (Wednesday Dec. 3) morning. This extra time will allow for more daylight so our drivers can clearly see the roads and ensure everyone arrives safely.
Thank you for your flexibility and understanding as we try to make decisions that prioritize student and staff safety.
It is our hope to see everyone back at school tomorrow with their NTI Day 1 work completed and ready to learn!!

Due to hazardous road conditions and forecasted continued winter weather, Carter County Schools will be closed today 12/2/25 with today being NTI Day 1. Students should follow the instructions given by teachers to complete today's assignments.
Staff should follow directions given by principal/supervisor with staff reporting to
school workstations if their road conditions permit. Staff should be in communication with their principal/supervisor.
Safety of students and staff is our priority.

Due to a heat issue at West Middle, we need to dismiss all schools at 1:00 pm today. All
students will have lunch. If West Middle families would like to pick up their child(ren) early, that is acceptable. Current temps in WCMS vary but it is running in 55-60 degree range. Buses will run normal routes beginning at 1:00 pm.
Happy Thanksgiving from Carter County Schools!

Wishing our students, families, and staff a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with rest and time with the people you love. I’m grateful every day for this community and for the work we do together for our kids.
Enjoy the break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next week! 💛. If you do not have Thanksgiving plans, info for the Community meal is in flyer attached.

Thanksgiving Break is next week! There is no school November 24-28, 2025.

East Middle buses will run as normal. They could be just a little late. Any parent who normally picks up their child just needs to wait until 3:30.
