East Carter High School students, families and those who travel Rt 1.
Prior to August 19 (first day of school) the KYTC will be making the intersection of East Carter High School and Rt 1 a four way stop.
They will change the electronic signage before you get to ECHS that notifies motorists of the change. The stop signs should be marked with orange ribbons. We have asked Grayson City Police to also help by being located near the four way stop.
Please talk to your child if you have a student driver about the stop signs and to use caution at that intersection because people will not be used to that change.

Update to Daycare Rates: Carter County Schools Daycare programs that operate at Heritage and Tygart Creek will see a slightly different fee structure. We have explored a few options and have considered feedback from parents who utilize the programs.
We have had questions about why we need to increase rates. Our Daycare program is a 100% district operated program. Daycare receives no state or federal funding at the district level. For the last few years our Daycare program has lost money. We are not trying to generate revenue from the program. We are simply trying to not run in the red.
Beginning in 2026-2027 School Year, the daycare rate will be $30 per day. Parents will register their students for Daycare and set the days of the week their child will attend. If a parent says their child will attend Monday, Wednesday, Friday then the amount due will be $90 for the week . If a child misses one of the days they are registered for, the amount due will still be $90. This will allow us to knowledgeably plan for students and perhaps help us create a sustainable model for daycare. If a parent needs to add a day and there is space open for that day, their child will be permitted to attend that day as well. Those logistics will be handled by the Daycare Teacher and Nellie Wright, our early childhood director/Supervisor of Instruction.

Students at Camp ECMS presented their Community Service projects today that they have been working on during camp this week. The Orange Group (the Dreamsicles) volunteered their time to wash a fire truck at Grayson Fire Department. The Green Group (the Shreks) spent time collecting and delivering donations to the Carter County Animal Shelter. The Blue Group (the Smurfs) created and delivered cards to residents of the Friendship House and Carter Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
These projects are a great reflection of the Gold Standard of Excellence in Carter County Schools - teaching students the value of serving their community. Camp ECMS was organized by the ECMS Youth Service Center.

If you registered your child for Camp Carter (next week - June 15-19), please take note of a couple of things:
1. Location has changed. We will now be having camp at East Carter Middle School.
2. If your child needs transportation from their elementary school, check the flier below for times for pick-up in the morning and drop-off in the afternoon.
We are excited for a fun week of camp! If you have questions about Camp Carter, you can call Kristen Bledsoe this week at Central Office. 606-474-6696, ext. 20104.
