Please return your Pathfinder student survey consent form (links included below). Even if you choose no, returning the form matters.

The anonymous Pathfinder survey helps our community:
• Expand after-school & summer activities
• Grow STEM & career pathways (like 1ST2FLY )
• Improve arts, recreation & outdoor opportunities
• Support kids’ overall quality of life

No student names.
Group data only.
Used to make better decisions for kids & families.

More forms returned = better outcomes for our kids!

Thank you for helping them stay on the right path!

Tomorrow, Friday January 16, 2026, school will be canceled in Carter County due to illness. This is NOT an NTI day. We have large numbers of staff and students out and local health providers have indicated flu and Covid numbers are high. Elementary basketball Saturday is canceled. District athletics and academics will still be played because they either cannot be made up or there is too much unpredictability in possibility of scheduling. Also, as a reminder, we do not have school Monday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr day. Please use this long weekend to rest and get well.

Good afternoon! Carter County middle and high schools have an exciting opportunity to partner with local groups (Pathfinder Initiative, Fiscal Court, and the Health Department) to work toward providing our students with the means to find positive ways to get involved in the community as a means to prevent substance use. One step in this process is for students in grades 7-12 to complete a survey that asks questions regarding their adolescent experience. The full explanation of the survey can be found by clicking on the links below for your child's school. Please consider allowing your student to participate in this survey!

The permission slip has to be completed for each child to participate, so please complete for all children in your home. This is for students in grades 7-12 and there is a form that is specific for each middle and high school linked below. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to work with our community to support our young people!

Carter County Schools would like to sincerely thank the Widows Sons Night Watchmen riding association for their donation to Carter County Schools. These men are Freemasons and work for the betterment of the community. They hosted their 2nd annual Autism Ride and donated their proceeds to our Special Education department. We are so grateful for their kindness and donation to our kids.

We will have school tomorrow December 18, 2025 and will be on regular schedule. When we check roads one more time this afternoon if there are any that are still ice covered and a bus cannot travel we will notify those parents directly through Apptegy.

Congratulations to FRYSC Coordinator, Katie Coburn. Katie was honored last week with the Deborah Meenach Combs' Community Spark Plug Award by the Grayson Chamber of Commerce. This award recognizes an individual for vision, initiative, and leadership in creating a project for the betterment of the community. We are so grateful for the work that Katie does in serving her students and their families at East Carter Middle and High School.

Carter County Schools will have NTI Day #5 tomorrow. There are still too many roads and turnarounds that buses travel that are snow and ice covered. There was not enough sun or warmer temperatures today to have any significant melting. Please follow school and teacher instructions for NTI assignments.

Representative Patrick Flannery was “NTI Principal of the Day” at ECHS 😂 He was able to participate in our Counselor PLC and check out things at East. We are so thankful for Rep Flannery and all he does for Carter County and Carter County Schools. #CarterCountyProud

Roads are still snow and ice covered throughout the county. Tomorrow, Tuesday December 16 will be NTI Day #4. Follow your school's and teacher's directions for completing assignments and communication. Staff should report if it is safe for you to do so. Please communicate with your principal or supervisor if you are not able to report.

Carter County Schools will have NTI Day #3 tomorrow, December 15, 2025. While main roads are in pretty good shape, side roads are not. Extreme temperatures contribute to this decision. We will always do what is safest for our students and staff. When it is possible to make this decision early, we will do so to allow for planning and child care arrangements but the decision is not always as clear cut as today's. Thank you for your understanding. Be sure to follow your school's and teacher's directions for NTI work and communication. Please be safe and stay warm.
