Every day is anti-bullying day and Be Kind day in Carter County. We work hard every day to be the Gold Standard in all we do, including being kind to everyone.
Be the Gold...Stand up, Speak Out. Be Kind.
Each month Carter County Schools will recognize those students who demonstrate the Gold Standard in kindness or help stop bullying.
We invite our community partners to help us recognize these students in any way that fits their business. Signs, name a coffee or treat after the student, give a gift card, invite the student to your business for an experience, etc.
ANYONE can share a student who is The Gold Standard in kindness. Send an email to Dr. Fraley at Jennifer.fraley@carter.kyschools.us.
Share the student's name, school and a brief description of how they demonstrated the Gold Standard in kindness and/or anti-bullying. Students will be recognized on a monthly basis. Local businesses and agencies that wish to participate can email Dr. Fraley as well.
Local businesses and agencies that participate in our recognition will receive a Gold Heart sign to display in their business.

Dr. Fraley is committed to keeping the board of education and our community informed.

Many times when there is a problem, we tend to focus on the negatives. Last night's electrical problem at the WCHS game /Homecoming announcement was an unfortunate event. A faulty wire put a quick halt to everything with a fiery exclamation point! However, it was handled the very best way by everyone there. Fans included. Our Director of Maintenance and Transportation Ronnie Cooley and Police Chief RD Porter quickly shifted from proud homecoming dads to their day jobs. Principal Zack Moore, AD Erik Kouns, SRO Erik Caudill, Coach Daniel Barker, CCBOE member Chris Perry and many other WCHS staff and others made sure safety was addressed first and safely got everyone out avoiding the problem area so that other first responders including the Olive Hill Fire Department and RECC could identify the cause and get the power safely restored before 10:30. Zack Moore was there til everyone was safely gone and everything was complete. A huge thank you to everyone for all you did to ensure this was handled safely and the very best way possible. While it was not the end of the game we wanted, it was the Gold Standard in safely handling an emergency. ⭐️
I want to make you aware that an incident occurred in an East Carter Middle School classroom today. All students have been checked on by administration and SRO and are safe. The parents and guardians of those students impacted have been called. We take this matter very seriously and have begun a full investigation in accordance with district policies. While we cannot share further details at this time, please be assured that appropriate steps are being taken to address the situation. The safety and well-being of our students is always our top priority, and we will keep you informed as we are able. Thank you for your continued support of our schools.
East Carter High School is wearing Red for Reid to show love and support for the friends and family during this loss of their classmate who graduated last year. ❤️

The Carter County Board of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Jennifer Fraley is the new Superintendent of Carter County Schools.

With the time change coming and it being dark when students are waiting at the bus stop, Carter County Schools and the Carter County Board of Education would like to supply students (especially bus riders, but all students for field trips, etc.) with a reflective vest to ensure visibility. We are asking for donations of NEW vests in all sizes (from little bitty to adult). You may drop them off at the board office and they will be sorted by sizes and delivered to bus drivers and schools. Of course, businesses may want to sponsor a school. Those donations can also be made at the board office. You may order different quantities from Amazon https://www.amazon.com/JaGely.../dp/B0D4QVS9HJ/ref=sr_1_4...

Just a reminder that there is no school next Thursday & Friday (October 2-3, 2025) for Fall Break.
