💙This Thursday, Nov. 13th is World Kindness Day. This is a special day to remind us that even the smallest acts of kindness can make a big difference. All students and staff at WCMS are encouraged to wear blue on Thursday to show our support. We also encourage everyone to smile at someone new, lend a helping hand, and spread kindness like confetti! 💙

We couldn’t be more proud of our amazing West Carter Middle School Student Y Club members who represented our school at the 2025 Kentucky Youth Assembly (KYA)!
For many of our students, this was their first conference experience — but you would never have known it. They confidently took the podium, debated important issues, and used their voices to make a difference.
Our Delegation’s Highlights:
• WCMS received the Conference Life Award – chosen by other schools for creating a positive, encouraging conference environment and living out the Y’s core values.
• Gabe Caudill served as Speaker of the House, helping lead the conference, chairing committees, and presiding over debate sessions.
• Commonwealth Bill #27 by Maci James, Marina Eklund, and Hadlei Maggard was the highest-ranked bill in the entire conference, passed both House & Senate chambers, was debated at General Assembly, and was even signed into KYA law by the Youth Governor!
• Elan Napier served as a Lobbyist, debating passionately on multiple issues and earning an Outstanding Delegate Award for his preparation and leadership.
• Abigail Ratcliff represented WCMS as a member of the Media Corps, helping share the stories and highlights of the conference.
• WCMS was honored with the Premier Delegation Award for overall excellence and participation!
We are so proud of these students for their leadership, confidence, and teamwork. Each one of them represented WCMS with integrity and heart.

Repost!
Dear Parents and Guardians,
Our 7th grade students are hard at work on their Project-Based Learning project about Halloween and similar holidays around the world. On Thursday, October 30th, they will present their research through creative displays. Families will be invited to come see their work!
To make this event possible, we need canopies (at least 6 ft. x 6 ft.) for each group’s display space. If your family has a canopy we could borrow, please let us know. Your child’s group will use it for their project, and if more than one student in a group brings one, we’ll share extras with other groups.
Canopies can be dropped off anytime starting now. Please have them in by October 20th so we have time to organize and make sure every group has what they need.
All canopies will be ready to go back home with students on October 30th after the showcase.
Thank you for helping us make this showcase a memorable experience for our students!
Any questions or concerns please contact Mrs. Oswood at
