Good afternoon ECMS family! On Friday, we will be doing our I-Ready Rewards for I-Ready Diagnostic 2. Students had multiple different ways that they could earn a spot on the rewards list. Because of this, we have over 700 names in our drawing. Thanks to the kindness of our community partners and the hard work of many individuals at ECMS, we have over 600 prizes to give away on Friday!! Please don't be surprised if your student brings a Reward home with them on Friday! The Rewards vary in their value. We have Gatorades, snack bags, candy bars, gift cards, sporting equipment, KCU gear, Raider gear, multiple games, a 55 inch screen TV, and more!! We can't wait to celebrate our student's success!

Good afternoon! Carter County middle and high schools have an exciting opportunity to partner with local groups (Pathfinder Initiative, Fiscal Court, and the Health Department) to work toward providing our students with the means to find positive ways to get involved in the community as a means to prevent substance use. One step in this process is for students in grades 7-12 to complete a survey that asks questions regarding their adolescent experience. The full explanation of the survey can be found by clicking on the links below for your child's school. Please consider allowing your student to participate in this survey!
The permission slip has to be completed for each child to participate, so please complete for all children in your home. This is for students in grades 7-12 and there is a form that is specific for each middle and high school linked below. Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to work with our community to support our young people!

Hello ECMS Family,

I am coming to you with an important update regarding our I-Ready Reading/Math individualized student program. After the 2024-25 school year we determined that the best way to monitor your child’s usage of I-Ready was to monitor your child’s progress utilizing a tool within I-Ready called “time on task”. During the 2024-25 I-Ready experience, the “time on task” feature closely monitored students as they worked on their individualized I-Ready pathway in Reading and Math. “Time on task” minutes were difficult to obtain. Students had to be working and progressing through the I-Ready pathways for both subjects.

With this information in mind, we made the decision to grade 2025-26 ECMS students in I-Ready based on their “time on task” minutes. For the first 9 weeks, as a trial run, we asked the students to complete 100 “time on task” minutes in Reading and Math in order to PASS I-Ready for the first 9 weeks. What we have discovered is that I-Ready has altered their algorithm for how they award “time on task” minutes to participating students. Currently, I-Ready “time on task” minutes are much easier to obtain than last school year. Therefore, we will be increasing the necessary “time on task” minutes for the second 9 weeks to 225 minutes in Reading and Math. In addition to the increase of "time on task", we will also be requiring that students pass 9 lessons in both Reading and Math in order to PASS their I-Ready class.

The average “time on task” minutes for the first 9 weeks in Reading for ECMS students was 223 minutes. The average “time on task” minutes for the first 9 weeks in Math for ECMS students was 333 minutes. We firmly believe that the 225 “time on task” minutes and the 9 lesson requirement to PASS I-Ready is a much needed change to truly promote the usage of I-Ready for Reading and Math. This I-Ready change will be for the second 9 weeks which begins tomorrow.

Thank you!
