Current 8th Grade Students: Free sports physicals will be offered on May 15th at East Carter High School. ECMS will provide transportation starting at 1pm. 8th grade students interested in free physicals were given a bus permission slip and a KHSAA High School athletic physical packet today at ECMS. Both of these things must be completed in order for your student to participate in the free physicals at ECHS. Once again, this is for current 8th grade student only. Thanks!

*Important Testing Reminder*
Dear Parents/Guardians,
As state testing approaches (begins tomorrow, Friday May 8, 2026), please be reminded that smartwatches and other smart devices are not allowed in the testing environment. Students should leave these devices at home or in their lockers during testing days to avoid distractions and ensure compliance with testing rules.
If students wear/bring smartwatches and other smart devices into the classroom where they are testing, the device will be confiscated and placed on the teacher’s desk. If confiscated, the device will be returned to the student once state testing has been completed for the day.

Carter County Board of Education Policy supersedes any school level policy. Therefore, ECMS will be following this new district policy starting 5/1/26. Also, we will use SBDM procedure to adopt this policy officially by utilizing our May and June SBDM meetings. Note, this policy is not solely for athletics, but applies to all extracurricular events (i.e., band, academic team, clubs, conditioning, open gyms, etc.)

Dear ECMS Parents and Guardians,
I want to address a concern regarding the midterm reports that were recently sent home. It has come to my attention that many students received reports with limited or no grades for the third nine-week period. I want to assure you that your students are being academically challenged every day at ECMS, and these incomplete midterm reports do not reflect the quality of teaching and learning taking place here.
As the principal of ECMS, I take full responsibility for this issue, and I apologize for allowing these incomplete reports to be sent home. To ensure better communication moving forward, we will be reissuing midterm reports this Friday, March 13, 2026, which will more accurately reflect the hard work being done at ECMS.
I sincerely apologize for this oversight and appreciate your understanding. I am committed to improving our communication and will work to prevent such issues in the future.
