Title 1 Program

What is Title I?

Title I is a federally funded program. The purpose of Title I is to provide all children with significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps.

How does Title I impact schools?

In Carter County, Title I funds are used to supplement schools with additional staffing, provide important math and reading programs, and support the purchase of devices such as iPads and Chromebooks in addition to many other critical education initiatives.

How does Title I impact you?

An important component of our Title I program is parent and family engagement. Our district was instrumental in the construction of the StoryWalk at the Grayson Walking Trail. We also work in conjunction with our community partners to present the Day Our with Dad program. Did you know that our one-call system is purchased with Title I funds? It is used to keep you informed when school is not in session but this tool is utilized by schools and teachers to make other important announcements about homework, tests, field trips, etc. In addition, every school in our district hosts parent and family night events. These events are open to you and your children to meet teachers, mingle with other families, learn about our schools, and discover ways you can assist your child with their education at home.
